The USC Upstate Women’s Tennis team came within 1 match to advance into their first ever Atlantic Sun Conference
Tournament berth. Upstate finish the regular season tied
for 6th in the Conference with Jacksonville at 4 and 5 in A-Sun play. But lost
the tiebreaker. Maria Delle Mani at the club a 12
singles victories. Lero Haas finished just behind
Tony with 11 wins. Freshman Isabella Von
Strict pace the newcomers with 9 singles victories this season. RoHaas and Van Strick were mainsticks
in the number 1 doubles position and the duo earned 8 wins on the year. The Spartan swept a week in pair from
Belmont and Lipscomb during the final weekend of March. The
late season push help the club make a run at a conference tournament berth. The
Women’s team has gotten off to a great start the season. As I mentioned were in a 4 in 4. Maria currently is a 6 and 2 for her
position in the conference. Also got to mention that Sophie RR lone
Senior and Julia Ann Isabel who themselves have winning records a in at their positions
this season. And both a great accomplishment for those girls that put the team to the point where again A-Sun
recognition hopefully will follow on from these
girls. I am commit what we had last year definitely turnaround our team this
year. Maria’s a a great story for us this year Last year, I don’t think, I don’t think she won a match playing
singles for us and when all from position of playing a
poor single through in a plate number one single last year. And the went through a
difficult time adjusting her game and playing a certain level that she was, I think a little unfamiliar with. To where this year She started at the bottom of the lineup
at number six single for us and has just blossom and currently I think believe holds the the
most winningest record on on the on on the team this year and
possibility of even getting a A-Sun accolades for her singles play on which is amazing to see her really excel this year.
