If you thought the Wimbledon women’s draw
was tough wait until you see the US Open’s Defending Champion and #1 seed Naomi Osaka
will begin her title defense against Russian Anna Blinkova. In the second round she’ll face either Astra
Sharma or Magda Linette. In the third round she may face 28 seed Carla
Suarez Navarro or even Wimbledon superstar 15 year old Cori “Coco” Gauff. In the round of 16, Osaka may face Belinda
Bencic or Anett Kontaveit. In the quarterfinals her projected seed is
number 7 Kiki Bertens but she could also face Aryna Sabalenka. In the semis it’s 4th seed Simona Halep
or 6th seed Petra Kvitova. In the finals her projected opponents Karolina
Pliskova and Ashleigh Barty. 2nd seed Ashleigh Barty will play her play
her first match against Zarina Diyas. In the second round she’s likely to play
American Lauren Davis. In the third round she may face 30th seeded
Maria Sakkari. In the 4th round she could face Kerber and
in the Quarters Serena Williams. In the semis she is projected to face either
Karolina Pliskova or Elina Svitolina, and in the finals Naomi Osaka or Simona Halep. Going to the draw at the top half we obviously
have Naomi Osaka presiding over everyone and even though she has some knee troubles, I
don’t see any problems for her in the first week. Though Carla Suarez Navarro is a solid player
she lacks the weapons to cause Naomi problems. Coco Gauff also looms, but I think Carla’s
consistency will topple her. I do see Belinda Bencic making her life difficult
as she’s defeated her twice this year alone in Indian Wells and in Madrid, and I see the
same thing happening again. Going down more we see a Belarusian battle
between Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Azarenka. I know this will be an absolute blood bath
in which Vika will take. Though it isn’t by much, Azarenka has been
the better performer in majors this year and is currently in better form than her compatriot. However Azarenka could face familiar foe Donna
Veckic in the third round. The reason why I say familiar foe is because
she has lost to her twice in the US Open Series alone. I see it being three in a row as Donna looks
to be the more in form player. I see Donna getting through to the quarterfinals
as the seeds in her way Kiki Bertens and Julia Goerges are in poor form and rarely go deep
in majors. Wimbledon Champion Simona Halep I feel has
a very favorable draw as there’s no truly heavy hitters in her early path to take her
out her comfort zone. They truly don’t come until possibly the
fourth round versus Rogers Cup champ Bianca Andreescu. Bibi, I feel will get through her first two
matches with ease until the 3rd round, where either Caroline Wozniacki or Danielle Collins
await. Though it will be tough, I see Andreescu getting
through this and getting by a possible Halep match up. Bibi is currently 7-0 against top ten players
which shows she is very capable of challenging these top women. I also believe Halep isn’t near her Wimbledon
winning form. Lastly, I feel as if a lot of these women
struggle after winning a major due to the expectations so I do not see Simona getting
to the quarters. In the last section of the top half we have
2017 champ Sloane Stephens. Im just gonna come right out and say it, I
think she’s going to lose in the second round to Svetlana Kuznetsova. Yes, she’s back with Kamau Murray but Kuzy
I feel is very dangerous and is definitely my dark horse for the tournament. We also can’t forget that she completely
demolished Sloane last week in Cincinnati 1&2 en route to the finals. Former French Open champs Jelena Ostapenko
and Garbine Muguruza could meet in the second round for a blockbuster match, but the Spaniard
will have to get by tricky American and Wimbledon Quarterfinalist Alison Riske first. At the bottom of this section we have Petra
Kvitova who has a relatively stress free draw and I for sure see her making it through to
the fourth round to meet Kuznetsova. This match should it happen, will be a battle
but because of Petra lack of success and comfortability in Flushing, I see the 2004 champ pushing
through to the final 8. From this top half i see Kuznetsova and Veckic
facing off in the semis with Kuzy getting by and into the finals. Both are in very good form and have reasonable
draws, but i see the Russian getting through due to her game style and due to their Citi
Open Finals match last year in which she completely wore down Veckic until the end. At the top of the bottom half we have #5 seeded
Elina Svitlona going up against youngster Whitney Osuigwe. She could then face 2-time winner Venus Williams
in the second but Vee has a tough task herself as she will have to get by Silicon Valley
champ Saisai Zheng in the first round. Young talents Sonya Kenin and Dayana Yastremska
lurk in this section as well. At the bottom we have Cincy champ Madison
Keys who opens up against Misaki Doi. I do believe Kenin and Keys will face of with
Kenin being the victor, because even though Maddy beat Sonya last week in Cincinnati,
Kenin is the type of player to make sure that she gets her revenge over people that have
beaten her in the past. I believe her opponent in the fourth round
will be Dayana Yastremska because though she may have Venus or Elina as a third round opponent,
Elina is one of the more inconsistent top ten players and Venus does have tendencies
of dropping off later on in tournaments. I pick Kenin getting through this section. French Open semifinalist Jo Konta will square
off against young Russian Daria Kasatkina and I see Daria getting through this judging
from recent form of both players. She could face French Open finalist Marketa
Vondrousova in the 3rd round which I doubt will happened because the Czech woman has
failed to showcased the final-run form since that semifinal match versus Jo. Rather I see Ekaterina Alexandrova as this
Russian has been performing very well in this entire US Open series. Moving down we have #3 Karolina Pliskova who
I believe will be the winner of this section. Karolina is slowly knocking on the door for
a major title this year and her section is extremely favorable. Sure she’ll get by some early, yet unnecessary
three setters, but I do see her going very deep in this tournament. Next we have none other than 6-TIME champion
Serena Williams who will face Maria Sharapova for the first time at the US Open and its
in the first round. Serena will get by this with her always peaking
against Masha and because she’s simply the better player in all aspects. I do think her mini section is favorable as
there’s really nobody to challenge her from the baseline. Su Wei Hsieh’s variety could possibly cause
problems if Serena is off and its windy, but i do see her making the quarters. In the final section we have Angie Kerber
going up against Kiki Mladenovic. At first I was thinking Kiki could pull off
the upset, but looking at her recent results those thoughts aren’t as strong. However, Kiki is very unpredictable and we
never know which player w’re going to see so anything is possible. Due to lack of true threat I see Angie getting
to the fourth round where she will face Camilla Giorgi. Yes, Ash Barty is anchoring this section,
but I just have this vibe that she won’t go very far in New York. Camila on the other hand has been playing
excellent this US Open series and is currently in the semifinals of the Bronx tournament. I also believe she has the game, and fire
power to take the Aussie out of her element. I think she will do the same to Kerber should
they meet, especially if Angie plays that default defensive tennis that holds her back
and gets her absolutely nowhere. From the bottom section I see Serena and Karolina
getting to the semifinals with Karolina advancing to the finals. Even though I believe Serena is eager for
revenge on Karolina after losing that Australian open quarters match that she should have won,
I doubt her overall health heading into this slam. Back in 2016, Serena looked amazing and in
shape to take the title, but she obtained a shoulder injury that hindered her against
Karolina in the semifinals. The back is also an issue for me as those
can come at any time, plus as you saw with Serena at the Rogers Cup they’re almost
impossible to compete with. In the finals I believe Svetlana Kuznetsova
and Karolina Pliskova will meet, with Karolina taking the trophy. Every time these two play its always a battle
with 4 out of their 5 encounters going to three sets. This final should it be played will be no
exception but the main thing that I believe will separate the two is Pliskova’s desire
to win a major. For a longtime she’s been knocking on the
door of winning a slam, and is beginning to gain a reputation of being one of the best
players to not win a slam, and I know she’s tired of that. Therefore I believe Karolina Pliskova will
be holding the winners trophy two Saturdays from today. Per usual there are multiple number one contenders
before this tournament with Barty, Halep, Pliskova, and Osaka being in the running. For Naomi to keep her spot at number one she’ll
at least have to make the finals. However if Ash reaches the quarterfinals she’s
knocked out. Karolina has to reach the quarters presuming
if Barty loses in the opening round, and for Halep to claim the top spot she too will have
to win the tournament. Ash Barty is the clear favorite for the number
one ranking but if my prediction of Pliskova winning comes true then that will be foiled. Before I close out my draw preview, here are

  1. I wish you YouTubers stop playing music in your videos , it is so ANNOYING. Do you want us to listen to you or the music. PLEASE STOP IT . This is not a movie!

  2. you can never predict the womens draw , too many women that can win, but my top 3 picks serena , barley, and 1 surprise finalist

  3. Donna Vekic going that far????…that's a bold prediction…and Kuznetsova that far is kinda a bold prediction too…although i can see that happening….

  4. Two biggest cheaters in the first match and I can bet that one of them will retire. The match will not finish normally unless if it’s a miracle and it is a close match

  5. Sloane will not lose in the second round because she is back with Murray and I think Sloane will be a competitor to win.

  6. Best narrative: Bianca and Serena in the finals. Bianca takes it in a super exciting match that combines skill level, power and the audience's growing realization that history is about to be made; a new dominant force in women's tennis is officially on the rise. The match will be seen in many years to come as the passing of the torch from one legend to another.

Disregarding flights of fancy however, your prediction is far more reasonable.
