Hitting the ball in the front of the
body is essential to hit an effective forehand volley. If you keep your body behind the ball your wrist has to be laid back in this
position and your elbow has to be in front of the
body. A very common mistake is to keep the
wrist aligned with the arm and the racket head so hitting the volley like this. This is definitely late and its gonna
lead to very inconsistent volleys. Effective volleyers will keep their
elbow and the wrist laid-back in may contact in front of the
body.
