AFTER THE LIONS FINISHED SECOND IN THE LEAGUE. JUNIOR ZACH PARISH WAS NAMED PITCHER OF THE YEAR. PARISH HAS AN 8-1 RECORD WITH A SCHOOL RECORD 126 STRIKEOUTS. AND INFIELDER DEXTER SWIMS WAS NAMED FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR. SWIMS LEADS THE LIONS WITH A .346 BATTING AVERAGE. ALSO, SOUTHERN INFIELDER FREDDIE LANDERS EARNED FIRST TEAM ALL- CONFERENCE HONORS. THE JOPLIN EAGLE BOYS TENNIS TEAM WON ANOTHER DISTRICT TITLE TODAY, DEFEATING REPUBLIC 5-0. JOPLIN WON ALL THREE DOUBLES MATCHES. THEN NUMBER ONE SINGLES PLAYER GARRETT LEWIS WON HIS MATCH 6-1, 6-0. AND NUMBER TWO SINGLES PLAYER ASA BORUP WON 6-0, 6-2. JOPLIN NOW ADVANCES TO SECTIONALS. THAT WILL BE A WEEK FROM SATURDAY AT A LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED. THIS JOPLIN TEAM HAS PUT TOGETHER ANOTHER GREAT SEASON AND THEY WANT TO GET TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT. Ed Ingle – Joplin Tennis Coach “It feels very good. We’re very happy.
