The GVSU men’s tennis team fell in
both matches they played this weekend in the GLIAC tournament dropping a four
to two decision to Ferris State on Saturday and then dropping the
third-place match to Northwood in another fortitude decision on Sunday in
Saturday’s match against Ferris State the Lakers scored the first point of the
afternoon after they captured the doubles point with winds from the number
two and number three pairings Jack Geissler and DJ Colantone won seven to
five from the number two doubles while Jack Dausman and Nicholas Urban also
tallied a 7-5 win from the number three slot in singles GVSU added to its lead
after Sebastian Lescoulie won from the number one spot
however FSU rattled off four points in singles play to capture the wind Dausman
fell in a tough three set match in the number three singles position while
Martin Matov off dropped two sets from the number four singles in the third
place game on Sunday Northwood would score the match his first point in
doubles with wins from number one and number two pairings playing from the
number two pairings with Jack Geissler and DJ Colantone in the duo fell six to
four while Jack Talisman and Nicholas Urban also dropped a six to four
decision from the number three doubles devious you however win from the number
one pairing after Sebastian Lescoulie and Martin Matov captured the six to four
win in singles the lakers were unable to find their groove as they added only one
more point to their score after Matov claimed to win from the number
four slot Geissler was defeated in three sets from the number 2 spot while
dousman fell in two sets from number three singles Northwoods scored its
final two points from the number five and number six singles after urban and
swimmer were both defeated the lakers are now 16 and 8 overall and will wait
to see if they qualify for NCAA postseason play as the selections go is
scheduled for Tuesday May 7th on
