The Grand Valley State men’s tennis team
defeated the Ashland Eagles in GLIAC play at home on Friday afternoon
Ashland scored the matches first point as they won at number two and number
three doubles the Lakers did win from number ones doubles as Sebastian Liskuli and DJ Collantone won six to three Grand Valley State turned things around
in singles action as they want four out of the six matches Liskuli won from
the number one position while Dausman captured a win from the number three
singles plank number four singles was a victorious Matov while urban also
won from the number five slot the team would then fall to Wayne State six to
one on Saturday the match started in doubles as Wayne State scored the first
point with winds from the number one and number two doubles the Lakers did
however win from the number three pairing after Jack talisman and Nicholas
urban won in singles GBS you could not find its groove as they dropped five out
of the six matches Martin Matt table scored the only team point for the
Lakers as he won in three sets from the number four position after the weekend
the team sits at 14 and six overall and four and two in the GLIAC
Grand Valley state’s final home match the 2019 season will be next weekend
when they welcome Purdue Northwest on Sunday April 14th the Grand Valley State women’s tennis
team wrapped up their regular season with two wins over the weekend the team
defeated the Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday
GVSU started the match with dye sweep in doubles as Madison Bauer and Maria Leko won
from the number one pairing while Vera Griva and Mary Canellopoulos also captured
a win from the number two spot Nicole Heiniger and Livia Christman
completed the sweep with a win from number three doubles the Lakers
continued their strong play in singles as they want five out of the six matches
Griva and Ballard both one from the number one and number two singles Canellopoulos
played at the number four spot and won her match for the third point Christman
and Heiniger added two more points to the team as they captured victories from
the number five and number six positions the team then won its final regular
season match of the 2018-19 season with a 7 nothing win over Wilmington on
Sunday GVSU started the match off with a sweep
and doubles as Ballard and Leko won from the number one pairing while Vera Griva Marilee Canellopoulos both captured a win from the number two slot Nicole Heiniger
Olivia Christman completed the sweep as they tallied a victory from number three
doubles the Lakers powered their way through singles play as Griva embowered
won from the number one and number two positions playing from number three was
Leko who won her match as Canellopoulos also won from the number four position
in three sets GVSU completed the shutout as Christman
won from the number five slot while Heiniger won in straight sets from the
number six position the Lakers and the regular season with a 21 and four
overall record their 15th straight year plus 20 wins and will now wait for the
NCAA division 2 selection announcement on may 7th to find out if
they receive an at-large bid for the NCAA postseason
