THE COMMUNITY TENNIS GROUP AT THE JAMES LEWIS TENNIS CENTER HELD THEIR MAGIC TENNIS TOURNAMENT OVER THE WEEKEND. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE LICENSE PLATES IN THE PARKING LOT, THE TOURNAMENT DREW PLAYERS FROM GEORGIA, FLORIDA, AND 7 OTHER STATES INCLUDING CALIFORNIA. 117 TENNIS PLAYERS COMPETED IN THE EVENT THAT RAISES MONEY FOR TENNIS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOUTH IN THE ENSLEY NEIGHBORHOOD. PLAYERS SAY THE FELLOWSHIP ALSO MAKES THE TOURNAMENT A VERY POSITIVE COMMUNITY EVENT. The Birmingham staff, the community, all the players down here makes you feel like family, make you feel like you grew up with them, it’s a great experience, this is my fourth year, hadn’t had a bad experience since I’ve been here. The staff, the courts, just everything, it’s phenomenal down here. THE TOURNAMENT ALSO SHOWCASES YOUTH LEADERS. ONE OF THE TENNIS OFFICIALS FEATURED DURING THE TOURNAMENT WAS 16 YEARS OLD.
