  1. I would recommend Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World Revisited, for a very prescient insight on how a politician’s image affects our understanding of democracy: Brave New World Revisited (P.S.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0060898526/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_di6IDbK6GGFVZ
It contains tons of other great insights into how close we are to the dystopia described in its predecessor book.

  2. I def think pulling from the entire population could result in similar if not worse leaders. But I agree adding more to the process of selecting a leader would help. And I've always said people who WANT to be President should never be allowed

  3. This video gets at the heart of the discussion that I think our country should be having right now: that government reform is needed and how we should go about it. I think its clear to most people that at the very least some things aren't working and could work better. I'm quite willing that we give everything a shot. Throw reforms at the wall and see what sticks. Let's enlarge the House. Let's try a new voting system, like ranked choice. Let's… randomly select our leaders from a qualified pool of candidates. I don't know if it can work, but could we try it? What would be the opportune lab environment to test out these ideas?

  4. I think it's definitely an interesting idea worth thinking about. I'm worried that when unconfident people get to office, they could be easily manipulated by their advisors. Now, would that be a worse system than what we have now? Honestly I don't know, the current system is pretty bad.
