There are games in your tennis lesson that are good… And there are games in your lesson that are superb! Today I`m going to show you a doubles drill / game, that is extremely fun and pay attention…. …here comes California! Hi, welcome to my channel. I`m Martin and totday we are talking about a game, where I first thought: “Shall I show it to them?”, because normally it`s famous. Today we are talking about California… …a doubles drill for 4 players… …who could handle playing volleys… …else this drill will maybe not work for you. Is the basic requirement here… …then California is a superb game…when I remember… …some years ago when I joined my tennis lessons… …it was always a question to the tennis coach… “Can we play California?” at the end of the lesson maybe? And also I am asked a lot to play it in my tennis lesson. Let`s have a look to the targets of California. I have 6 point here I like to introduce… 1. Attack to the net and there is resulting when I move forward… …the practice of the first volley… …this is being well practiced here. Then we have as point 3… covering the net position. The players at the net… …are doubt to be shift… …left and righ and to cover the court at its best. Then we have point 4: passing shots! The players who are moving back or playing at the baseline… …the have to practice to play good passing shots. To have a look where the can play through, where does the opponent give me a chance to play through. Or maybe the passing shots in the defence. When a player is running back and gets feeded by the coach… …he must play a good passing shot from the defence. Last but not least: movement, movement, movement… …this game is one of the fastes games I know. And its not practicing the quickness, also the endurance. Words enough…. …here come the practical part – 2 winnings sets… …until 11 plus 1 decision set till 16….have fun! On the first point everybody starts at the baseline. too short! too short! two times to short=point loss No lob on the first ball! not allowed! Change side on 8 – decision set goes to 16! Winner Team 1 California – a great doubles game…. …what you should try out in your tennis lesson! How it worked – let me know in the comments… …else remember – follow my channel to be remembered for new videos from me. Or have a look to my other videos… …you might find something useful for your tennis lesson. See you, Martin.
